Small Garden Ideas

Small Garden Ideas

Little garden space, big idea

If you no longer wish to plant a big garden you may want to consider a small garden on your deck or patio. The cost of fresh tomatoes and peppers is skyrocketing with no end in sight! Window box or container gardens are a great small garden idea, especially when trying to cook healthier. Your small space container garden can be as large or as small as you wish. You can have one pot for cherry tomatoes, one for beefsteak tomatoes, one for green peppers and one for kitchen herbs.

Why not start out with a 5 gallon container and plant one of your favorite tomato varieties. A standard tomato cage fits the pot perfectly. If you are unsure a container veggie garden is for you, start with a small container or two of herbs. Small containers can grow multitudes of herbs or vegetables when either garden space or physical limitation is an issue.

With a little planning you can have your favorite berries, fresh tomatoes or peppers all summer long. It is possible and relatively easy to grow your favorite vegetables without having the burden of tending to an outdoor vegetable garden. If you have enough space for an enclosure, depending on where you live, you may be able to keep herbs & veggies year round!
