farmhouse recipe from Ky cook
1 large head of cabbage
1/2 pound bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled
1/2 tsp regular or sea salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 clove garlic or 1/2 tsp jarred minced garlic
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/3 cup of water
While the bacon is cooking, chop the cabbage into pieces
be sure and remove the center and toss it in your compost pile.
After the bacon is done, remove and drain on paper towels.
In your skillet, leave a tablespoon or 2 of bacon grease.
Break the cooked bacon into pieces, back in the skillet it goes...
Add the chopped cabbage and the salt, pepper,
garlic and red pepper.
Stir in 1/3 of a cup of water.
Cover and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
Stir well, continue cooking until desired tenderness.
